Event Storming Board

A modelling surface for change-management requests. The chrome is monochrome steel on paper; all color in the product belongs to the sticky grammar, so the timeline reads as a legend at a glance. Conventions follow eventstorming.com, adapted where the digital medium can do better than a paper wall.

Terms & definitions

A dictionary per bounded context, read where the word is used.

Any word on the board can be marked as a term. It keeps its place in the sentence and gains a dotted underline; hovering reads out the definition held by the context the sticky sits in. The entries are the same objects as the Ubiquitous Language field of the bounded context canvas — one dictionary, two places to read it.

Whenever risk is rated high, route to
POLICY · P-002 MK
routed as a standard change
EVENT · E-025 MK

In prose the mark behaves the same way. A skips CAB but never security review, and the decides the route.

REAL canvas/Sticky · REAL glossary/TermMark + TermPopover · THE ROUTE OWNS `term`MARKS AND DEFINITIONS COME FROM §10’S BOARD, NOT FROM THIS PAGE
Fidelity: the source draws CAB’s underline in policy purple though CAB is defined twice. §15’s written rule says a double-defined term is dotted red, and the rule wins.Fidelity: the source’s sticky reads "Whenever a standard change passes security review, route it to CAB". §10’s board holds "Whenever risk is rated high, route to CAB" and marks CAB on it, so `standard change` is marked in the prose run instead. The words come from the model.
Marks & rules
  • dotted grey defined in this context. The word stays in the sentence; no icon, no color, no chip.
  • dotted red used but undefined, or defined two ways. Counts as an open item in the review queue.
  • On a sticky the underline takes the sticky’s own dark step, so it reads as part of the note rather than an annotation layer.
  • Definitions belong to a context, not the board. The same word marked in two regions is two entries; the popover says so and offers a comparison instead of picking a winner.
  • Marking is cheap. Select a word, press ⌥D. If the term already exists in this context the mark attaches silently; every later use of that word is offered the same mark.
  • Hover reads, click edits. Hover after 200ms, dismiss on leave or Escape; click opens the entry in the detail panel. Keyboard focus opens the same popover, so it is not a mouse-only feature.
  • Never auto-link. Only words a person marked get underlined — matching every occurrence of "change" would make the board unreadable.
